Welcome

Welcome to Cool Breeze Farm, home to flowers and horses. The flower farm started in 2022 when Marnie retired from teaching and felt a strong need to create something. Habitat is what she decided to create! We took a one acre hay field and slowly began planting perennials and annuals that would provide a healthy home for native birds and insects.

Cool Breeze Farm

After a deep dive researching regenerative agriculture practices, we made a plan for a cut flower farm that would balance our ability to produce annual flowers for cutting and sale with our desire to create a field (and a farm!) that incorporates many native species as a food source and habitat for the birds and insects that are in stunning decline on our planet.

Our research led us to very specific choices about our farm, all choices that prioritize the health of the soil life on the land we steward. We are creating our own compost using food waste, spent annuals, horse manure, and bedding. We are always looking for ways to minimize our use of plastic, although this remains an ongoing challenge. We do not use chemicals, striving instead to create a balanced ecosystem where beneficial insects and birds keep our damaging insects under control.

The results have been beautiful blooms, flowers so stunning they sometimes stop me in my tracks and remind of the transcendent power of nature to inspire awe and wonder. I believe flowers capture that awareness.  There is nothing quite like a bouquet of locally and sustainably grown flowers to awaken the senses and ground a person in the present and to remind me that nature provides an inspiring canvas for creation. I hope you will take a moment to explore our website, learn a little more about the regenerative practices at our farm, and purchase some local blooms during the season, which at our farm is May through October.
